Frequently Asked Questions

Arrival Time
Please arrive 15–30 minutes early to check in. Each player will be assigned a tryout number at that time.

Parent Attendance
Parents are welcome to stay and watch from a distance. To ensure a smooth tryout experience, we ask that parents remain outside of the dugout and drill stations at all times. Please take the time to review more details about our program at masscaptainsbaseball.com.

What to Bring/Wear
Players should wear baseball pants, cleats, and a hat. Please bring a glove, bat, helmet, and water. Catchers should bring their own gear. *In the event of rain, tryouts will move indoors to our facility at 781 Sports in Hanover, so please also bring turf shoes or sneakers (cleats are not allowed indoors).

Tryout Format
Tryouts will begin with a group warm-up, followed by a rotation of skill stations. We will evaluate:

  • Infield and outfield fielding
  • Hitting
  • Arm strength
  • Speed and agility
  • Attitude and effort

Players who would like to be considered for pitching or catching will be evaluated separately for those positions. Depending on turnout, we may also conduct a controlled scrimmage. Our goal is to move all players through the process efficiently.

After Tryouts
We host several tryout sessions for each age group to ensure all players are fairly evaluated. Please do not expect immediate communication or a roster offer after your session. We will notify all families once teams are finalized. We appreciate your patience during this process.

Team Structure
We intend to field teams from 9U to 17U for the 2025–2026 season. The number of teams per age group will depend on registration and talent levels. We do not fill rosters for the sake of numbers—if you receive an offer, it’s because we believe in your potential and are committed to helping you grow.

Questions?
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out via email. Due to the number of players at tryouts, it will be difficult to answer questions on-site, but we’re happy to follow up afterward. We understand the importance of this decision and want to ensure you have the information you need. Many common questions are addressed on our website at masscaptainsbaseball.com, so we encourage you to take a look there as well.

We look forward to seeing you on the field!
